Ally Invest Managed Portfolios: Investing Guidance from a Trusted Name

Are you comfortable managing your own investments or do you prefer a professional do everything for you?

As a fairly inexperienced investor, I’m not confident about making investment decisions all on my own. At the same time, it can be scary to place complete trust in someone else to manage all of my hard-earned money.

Especially with the typical requirement that you invest a significant amount in order to benefit from the guidance of an account manager.

Introducing Ally Invest Managed Portfolios

If you've read this blog for some time, you've no doubt heard of the brand TradeKing, an online stock broker service that allowed you to purchase and manage your own investments, that was founded back in 2005.

TradeKing was acquired by Ally Financial in 2016.

While TradeKing may have been renamed Ally Invest (see our full review), it still provides affordable investment options for people with varying levels of experience.

Many people don’t have the time or skills necessary to manage their own investment portfolio, from picking the right stocks for their unique situation, to keeping their portfolio properly balanced.

However, they think that the only other option is to pay high fees to an account manager while giving up control of their investments. In addition, they assume that there are high minimum investments required.

Ally Managed Portfolios

Ally Invest Managed Portfolios offers a solution that costs much less than working with a traditional advisor. You don’t have to come up with tens of thousands of dollars to receive guidance with your account.

This managed portfolio option can help those without the experience and/or time necessary to actively monitor and trade investments.

How Does Ally Invest Managed Portfolios Work?

Your personalized portfolio is crafted based on information including your financial needs, risk tolerance, goals, and investment horizons.

Ally takes all of these factors into consideration when building your portfolio recommendations. In addition, you can adjust your risk tolerance at any time, if your financial situation changes.

Ally Managed Portfolios allocate your investment across a variety of low-cost index funds. The company uses a “rigorous” evaluation process to identify favorable index funds, based on your unique risk tolerance and investment timeline.

How Much Does Ally Invest Managed Portfolios Cost?

There is an annual advisory fee of 0.30%, but there are no trade fees when securities are bought or sold on your behalf.

The average person may shy away from any type of managed investments because they assume that they will be required to make a sizable deposit. However, with Ally Invest Managed Portfolios, the minimum investment is only $2,500.

The small deposit requirement makes this investment option available for people in a wide range of financial situations. You can add funds to your account at any time.

What To Expect Over The Long Run from Ally Invest Managed Portfolios

One of the most convenient features of Ally Invest Managed Portfolios is that your investments are constantly monitored and adjusted. The company uses special technology to track the progress of your portfolio. When market conditions change, your portfolio will be adjusted to better serve your financial goals.

You can check in on the progress of your portfolio at any time. However, you don’t need to worry about babysitting your investments.

This service aims to provide the benefits of responsive and individualized investing, but without requiring you to do the work or pay close attention to your portfolio. You don’t have to do any trading or rebalancing yourself!

Ally Invest Securities, LLC provides protection for accounts up to $500,000 per client and has additional insurance that provides protection for securities and cash up to an aggregate of $150 million. Ally’s customer service is available 24 hours per day, seven days a week.

If you’ve been thinking about getting started with investing and are willing to pay a reasonable fee for a helping hand, then the trusted advice from Ally Invest Managed Portfolios may be the perfect fit for you.

  1. Interesting, I didn’t realize Ally had an Investment Management offering.

We use Ally for our Savings Accounts and have been really happy with them. They are very transparent, helpful, and easy to work with on the banking side. Their customer service is also great, I’ve been pleased with the quick responses I have received.
