While not specifically related to personal finance I think a great book for a new high school graduate would be “Who Moved My Cheese” by Spencer Johnson.

It is a very short book that even a child could understand, but the story can be applied by anyone. Especially someone who is graduating high school and entering a new chapter of their life. The book is all about change and how to deal with it.

I like the suggestion, because I enjoy her commentary and like that she’s on tv…would suppliment the book. If only the title didn’t have the word “fabulous” in it. Can’t see my bro-in-law carrying around that book. I need something a little more geared towards guys..or just not gender specific.

Though I haven’t read it, I’ve looked through Suze Orman’s Young, Fabulous, and Broke. It seems solid, and right now would be my recommendation for a general personal finance book. Certain kids might need a book more geared toward entrepreneurship, or investing, or debt reduction. But for most kids, I think YFB is a good choice.
