Investing and Retirement

To date, my experience with investing has only been in the retirement investing arena. I don’t actively invest in taxable accounts. So, if you’re looking for that kind of information you won’t find it here. What you will find is boring, old, passive, low-cost investing information to help you save for your retirement expenses.

I love tax-advantaged retirement accounts like the 401K, Roth IRA, and Solo 401K (the retirement account I use for my small business). I’m going to preach the use of these till I’m blue in the face. I’m convinced they are the best place to invest your money for retirement. Why? You save a lot of money in taxes, that’s why.

I talk less about what I actually invest in, inside those accounts. But I do tell you exactly what I invest in: VFORX. In general I’m not looking to win big in the stock market this year or the next five. What I want is my money to grow slow and steady with little risk and expense over the course of my working years. Why? So I’m able to stop working at some point and still feed myself. No excuses. You should be investing for your own retirement too.
