Camping and the Primetime QuickHits

Going Camping This Weekend

I’m off camping this weekend, enjoying what is likely my last “guy” weekend before Mrs. PT and I get to meet our little girl. Living in dry, flat, barren North Texas leaves me wanting for hills and real trees all the time. Luckily, that’s not too far away. A three hour drive to a State Park and we’re there. Camping is definitely one of my favorite frugal getaway ideas.

The QuickHits

This week I enjoyed the newly re-branded Bargaineering’s How to Buy a Car (Without Getting Screwed). This video covers the car buying process very quickly and concisely. I feel like I’m pretty good at the process, but I still learned a few things from this guy.

Pete from Bible Money Matters looked at possibly refinancing his house this past week. See how he did in an article titled, Rates Are Low. Is It Time To Refinance? Our Refinance Story.

A friend of mine, Jason, just started his own personal finance blog called My Money Minute. He’s kicked things off with a couple of posts including an excellent read on resolutions and SMART goals called, New Years Resolutions? It’s Never Too Late. Be on the lookout for more things from My Money Minute. [RSS]

Think Your Way to Wealth has a nice article on Discussing Money Issues with Your Wife or Husband. I agree that communication is keys to a smooth marriage of the finances.

Lastly, My Dollar Plan has a great article on How Long to Keep Your Financial Papers.

I was able to participate in the following carnivals last week: Festival of Frugality, Carnival of Personal Finance, Carnival of Debt Reduction, and the Money Hacks Carnival.

Have a nice weekend.

I am truly envious, you could drive 3 years and camp. Where I am it's an insane thought to go for a 10 minute walk in this weather. Enjoy your last weekend of peaceful rest and try getting some sleep!
