in Credit Cards

If you’re a Upromise member, you should know that there are now two major ways to earn extra Upromise points. First, you could sign up for the Sallie Mae Savings Account, which I recently reviewed. Second, you can sign up for the UpromiseĀ® World MasterCardĀ® Credit Card. Today I thought I’d share a quick review of the card.

Features of the Upromise Credit Card

In short, it’s a simple no-annual-fee reward card that allows you to increase the amount of Upromise points you can earn on each transaction. It also comes with a $25 bonus for your initial purchase. Lastly, surprisingly enough, it’s also a good balance transfer card! If you like bullet points, here ya go:

  • 2% extra college savings on eligible gas purchases at Exxon and Mobil locations OR
  • 10% extra college savings on purchases at Upromise Dining by Rewards Network restaurants
  • 1% college savings on every purchase
  • Get $25 bonus college savings after the first qualified use of your account
  • Up to 10 months introductory 0% APR on purchases and balance transfers
  • No annual fee

More About the Rewards

There are actually 2 different versions of this card: one for gas reward bonuses, and one for restaurant reward bonuses. Check out these screen shots of the two offers to understand the difference:

More About the Zero Percent Balance Transfer

Lastly, I thought I’d point out that this card also comes with an introductory zero percent balance transfer offer. The term is from 7 to 10 months depending on your credit worthiness. Ten months is pretty solid when compared to most other 0% balance transfer cards which are in the 6 months range. If you’ve got some high interest debt hanging around, you could transfer the balance to this card and begin saving on interest charges. The fee to transfer is 3%.

Apply for the Upromise Credit Card

Upromise has put together a pretty solid credit card here. Used in combination with a Upromise account and the Sallie Mae savings account, you could really maximize your college savings efforts.

If you use this card and can report on the results, please share a comment below. Thanks.
