On the Sharing of Personal Finance Information
There are a lot of bloggers online sharing specific details about there finances. Take for example, Madame X at the appropriately named My Open Wallet, who has her net worth ($360k as of 12/31/07) listed on the front page of her blog. Another site that does a good job of this is Consumerism Commentary, where you can view Flexo’s personal income statements and balance sheets. Lastly, NCN at the No Credit Needed network lists over a hundred net worth profiles you can compare yourself to.
While I’m not fully disclosing my finances on Prime Time Money, you can get a glimpse by checking out our savings and debt reduction goals. And if you stick around long enough, you’ll get a feel for what I make and how I spend my money.
Pictures of My Wallet
To take it a step further today, I thought it would be fun to ‘literally’ show you, in pictures, what’s in my wallet. So without further delay here’s my beautiful billfold “centerfold”:
- License (behind handy privacy screen)
- Debit/credit card from ING DIRECT Electric Orange Account
- Bank of America Platinum Plus World Points Card
- Insurance Card. We’re lucky. It’s a nice plan.
- Kroger Plus Card. Mrs. PT has the main one. This is just the backup.
- Texas CPA License. I worked too hard not to carry the thing around!
- Blockbuster Card. I rent maybe once every other month.
- Haircut punch card. Just a few more for a freebie!
- Receipts in bill area #1. Emptied once a week or so into home office desk till month end, when they are checked and shredded.
- Cash money in bill area #2. I withdraw $100 every 2 weeks for daily spending.
- Bonus pic of key ring: SUV, desk, house, mini library card, 2G jump drive, RSA token (work from anywhere secure).
By the way, my neat little wallet is from Fossil. I think it cost around $15, purchased three years ago.

I do not have a digital camera so I used a generic picture.
The camera on my cellphone is not very good…but I guess I can take a few pics and update the post.
Nice wallet
Are there times you have to prove you’re a CPA?
@ Jonathan – Good question. Yeah, I never have to show anyone.
The back of the card says to carry with you for identifcation purposes.
I guess it’s handy for auditors representing CPA firms that travel and can’t carry the bigger license with them.
Since I’m not in public practice, I keep it there to remind me of the standards of my profession and all the hard work I put into it.
@ SingleGuyMoney – Thanks for sharing. Yeah, I love your site and love checking your stats.
@ Pete – I checked out your wallet. Thanks for linking back and for subscribing. I’ll bump your link up into the post later this week.

I’m not big on showing my disorganized wallet! Mine wallet is EXTREMELY frightening!
Thanks PT for the Tag! I’m putting my wallet up tomorrow.
ho ho. thanks for the linkie. still always fun to peek into other’s wallet. link love to others too.
I’d post my wallet pics, but I think I’d be stuck on the first slide. I don’t believe in cash – and only carry a credit card and my license for the most part. I’ve got a Papa Murphys pizza discount card or 2 though…
I have a wallet but I don’t use it when going out. Because i tend to spend more than usual.
I have only 2 credit cards and the rest are membership cards
Thanks for sharing
