Prime Time Money – Cheap Haircut Roundup

barber500sm.JPG

Today I’m headed off to get my $6.99 haircut.  The place I go to is normally $15, plus I tip two or three dollars (which I guess is the norm) but today they are running this special.  So, I guess today’s cut with tip will cost me $10.  Not bad.  How much do you spend on getting your haircut?  How often? And how much do you normally tip?

A couple of interesting articles I read this week:

Have a great weekend!

I get my hair cut about once every other month from my wife. I spend about $0 (depreciation cost of the clippers) and tip with a kiss.

I get my haircut on a military installation where I work as a civilian. It costs $7, but I pay $9 w/ a tip. I get my hair cut about every 4 weeks.

    Thanks for the mention! :)

Thats for including my article and for the kind comments. I get mine cut once a month. I use Sports Clips but always use one or more coupons to keep the cost down. I LOVE their hot towel treatment.

I usually tip about 20%, depends on who’s cutting it and how well they did.

@ ERE – I wish I could do the cut at home thing. Just doesn’t work for my hair type. Thanks for sharing.

@ Patrick – That’s a nice perk. I bet you get to show at the commissary too?

@Glblguy – I used to do sports clips too. they have the shoulder massage as well, right? very nice. can’t beat watching tv during the cut.

I used to do SportsClips as well. They would have the coupons on their ads in Minute Maid Park for half off, so if I used those I would usually get my haircut with the shampoo for about $10. Unfortunately I haven’t seen any of these coupons for a while, so I stopped going there.

When I don’t have SportClips coupons, I will go to TGF on Tuesdays for their $10 special. Either way, I usually tip $5 unless the stylist is particularly annoying or unpleasant.
