New Cell Phone and Plan Through Amazon.com

How great is it when you get a new cell phone? A good feeling, right? I guess it’s something about being on the cutting edge of technology, holding a clean, shiny piece of cool metal and glass in your hands.  I now own the Motorola RAZR V3xx (with AT&T/Cingular service):

I purchased it over the weekend. Better yet, I didn’t purchase it…I just signed up for the 2 year service with AT&T/Cingular through Amazon.com and was given the phone for free. For the past few years I’ve been employed by a telecom company. I was given a free cell phone plan. The catch was that I needed to purchase the phone. Well, with out the plan discounts, the phones are ridiculously expensive. So, because I attempt to be frugal I’ve always had an old, clunky phone.

Now that I’ve left the telecom world and can sign up for a service contract, I can get a nice phone for free. I went through Amazon because they offer the best pricing ($0). Also, the service plan I’m getting through them is actually cheaper that if I’d signed up through Cingular.com. While it’s a bummer that I have to pay for cell service now, it sure feels good to finally have a nice phone.
