Nickel over at Five Cent Nickel has been blogging for two years now. Visit his site to see his two-year stats. Very impressive! Because he’s such a fun-loving guy, he’s allowing us to celebrate with him, and he’s giving away several cool prizes. Go sign up for yourself.
While I was there, signing up to get my ipod, I read one of his popular posts: 12 Simple Ways to Save Money on Utilities (and the Planet). I agree with Nickel about most of his suggestions, and my wife and I will try and do most of these once we own our town home. Of the 12, I particularly liked the suggestion to install aerator screens on your faucets. I like the feel this gives to the water flow, but I didn’t realize it helps you conserve. Very nice. I also agree with Nickel about the low-flow shower heads; there’s only so far I’m willing to go to conserve. To me, low-flow = longer shower = just as much water used had you had a regular head. My suggestion is to shower with your spouse…always fun and environmentally conscious.
