Today is draft day for the NFL. The Oakland Raiders had the very first pick and they selected Jamarcus Russell, QB from LSU, as their number one draft choice. In my opinion, Jamarcus
solidified this spot with his winning performance during the 2007 Sugar Bowl (LSU vs. Notre Dame). He basically showed the nation that night that not only was he the most physically gifted QB in the college ranks (he can throw a football more than 60 yards on his knees), but he was also a big game performer and was capable of leading his team to a big win on the national stage. After the game, you could literally hear all the NFL owners scrambling to call their scouts to find out as much as possible about Jamarcus. Here’s a nice clip of him showing off his skills and getting it done.
Anyway, this got me thinking about a number one choice for stocks. My wife and I have opted not to invest directly in one particular stock (with the exception of the employee stock option plan with my employer). We do, however, by way of our retirement savings plans, invest in many stocks through mutual funds. But what if you had only ONE stock in which to invest? What would it be. This article from the motley fool examines some of the best stocks to own. What are your best stocks and where do you do your cheap stock trading?
